The Costa del Sol property market is currently riding a wave of positive publicity. Although only five months into 2024, this year we have already seen a slew of news articles highlighting the region’s growing popularity amongst holiday makers, investors, expats, digital nomads and investors.

One of the first articles to catch our eye was the ‘Internations’ Annual Expat City Ranking Report. In February 2024, this respected expat network published a report announcing the best 49 cities for living and working in the world. All locations were ranked by 12,000 expats across 188 countries, and the top ranked city turned out to be Málaga, the capital of Costa del Sol.

Forbes Best European Destination 2024

Also in February 2024, Marbella was given the seal of approval on Forbes.com in this article “The 20 Best European Destinations in 2024: Marbella tops Travel Survey” which reported the European Best Destinations (EBD) award results. A survey asking one million holiday makers to rank the best 20 hotspots out of 500 European destinations, placed Marbella in pole position. This jewel in the Costa del Sol’s crown took first place by a landslide vote, due to the superb all-year-round climate, luxurious hotels, facilities and world-class restaurants, plus the extraordinary wealth of golf courses and healthy outdoor lifestyle.  Monaco, Malta and Geneva were voted second, third and fourth.

Málaga province is voted second best global digital nomad destination

If this EBD awards were not enough to convince anyone considering investing in Marbella property, the entire province of Málaga has earned additional kudos in the global Executive Nomads Index study  by being voted the second best global destination for executive digital nomads. This is unsurprising as the region has seen unprecedented investment, including further development of Parque Technológico de Andalucía, Andalucía’s answer to Silicon Valley, which is attracting more and more international technology firms.

As experienced high end real estate agents and property developers specialising in Marbella, it comes as no surprise that the world is waking up to the fact that Marbella, including Málaga and the wider Costa del Sol, is much more than a beautiful place to live, and that Marbella real estate also represents a savvy investment.

Why is Marbella so popular?

Marbella is one of the most glamorous holiday destinations for good reason. The municipality of Marbella runs from Elviria and La Mairena (East Marbella) and ends to the west at Guadalmina. In between there are many beautiful areas, including some of the most coveted postcards and exclusive properties in the world. Here are just a few of our favourite locations in Marbella.

Sierra Blanca, Marbella

One of the most sought-after postcodes when looking for premium property for sale in Marbella, an elite gated community, located above Marbella’s Golden Mile in the foothills of the Sierra Blanca Mountain range. The peek is formed by La Concha Mountain, Marbella’s instantly recognisable mountain backdrop. It is ideally located cocooned by peace, quiet and privacy away from the hustle and bustle, offering an ideal spot for walking, hiking and exploring the nearby countryside. Yet within a short drive of the superb beaches, beach clubs, shops and restaurants and much more.

Puerto Banús and Nueva Andalucía

Created to rival St. Tropez as the go to resort for the jet set, Puerto Banús is arguably the most famous marina in the world. When thinking about Puerto Banús real estate, we tend to imagine the Puerto Banús apartments for sale around the beautiful marina. Designed in the style of a typical Andalusian village, these properties are located at the heart of the action, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the superyachts in the port, and surrounded beach clubs, restaurants, bars, designer stores and much more.

However, located a few minutes’ walk above Puerto Banús, you’ll find the residential area of Nueva Andalucía. Considered as a peaceful haven, families, holiday makers and investors are attracted by the range and quality of the luxury villas for sale in Nueva Andalucía, in addition to the million-euro mansions, there are also high-quality modern townhouses and apartments on leafy streets.   The neighbourhood is also known as Golf Valley, due to the high proportion of the golf courses including the highly acclaimed Los Naranjos Golf Club and Aloha Golf Club , making it the perfect destination to find the perfect golf properties.

Marbella’s Golden Mile

The famous Golden Mile in Marbella is an idyllic stretch of land connecting Marbella’s town centre to Puerto Banús. It is here that the myth and the magic of Marbella began with the launch of the iconic Marbella Club Hotel.  Just a few minutes to the west, you’ll find the Puente Romano Beach Resort, equally well-known and loved by international clientele, who stay in the beautiful hotel suites. Within the resort alone, there are 20 restaurants and bars, including establishments owned by Málaga born Michelin chef, Dani García.  Of course, this is only one part of the Golden Mile, you’ll also find designer stores, boutique hotels, chiringuitos and some of the scarcest property on earth. Needless to say, there is a perennial high demand and scarcity of luxury beachfront villas for sale on Marbella’s Golden Mile.
