Why Christmas in Marbella feels so magical

Marbella and San Pedro pull out all of the stops; the streets feel alive, the old towns glow, families gather outdoors even in winter, and the mix of Andalusian tradition with modern festive flair. Whether you’re strolling through twinkling markets, enjoying flamenco carols, watching fairies’ parade through historic plazas, or watching the lights being switched on… Christmas is a magical experience.

If you are considering visiting the Costa del Sol  for festive break, we hope our guide has given you a glimpse into the kind of Christmas you can enjoy in the sunshine. And if you are considering investing in real estate on the Costa del Sol or planning on touring some of the superb property for sale in Marbella (and the surrounding areas) over the holiday season, get in touch with Eric and Paula by emailing info@andaravillas.com.

Expect mild and pleasant weather, with average daytime temperatures ranging from 10-20°C (50-68°F). You can enjoy plenty of sunshine, but evenings get cooler, with temperatures dropping to around 9°C (48°F). All in all, it is a superb winter destination, offering seasonality and sunshine.

It is busier than the autumn months but much quieter than the peak summer season. You will find a festive atmosphere without overwhelming crowds. The week leading up to New Year’s is generally busier than Christmas week. It is a great time to visit and explore the area, especially if you are considering purchasing Marbella property.

Zamboma is a traditional Andalusian Christmas celebration; a show, but also a festive gathering where people come together to sing, clap, dance and enjoy flamenco-inspired Christmas carols. There are guitarists, singers and clappers (called palmeros) who perform the songs and the audience is encouraged to join in. It’s arguably one of the most authentically Andalusian ways to celebrate Christmas.

Yours sincerely,
Eric & Paula
