The best luxury homes for sale are on the Costa del Sol

It may be a sweeping statement to announce that the sunny Costa del Sol has the most to offer buyers looking for luxury mansions like Villa Shiro … but as high-end real estate agents and property developers based on this beautiful stretch of coastline, we know this to be true.

Of course, you don’t need to take our word for it. A recent report by Idealista identified four areas in Spain with the highest concentration of prime real estate, with the Costa del Sol accounting for the highest percentage of the luxury property sales market. Even more impressive, the most expensive property in Spain was located in Sierra Blanca on Marbella’s Golden Mile and sold for €32 million.

Marbella’s Golden Triangle

La Zagaleta (part of Benahavis) and the neighbouring Municipalities of Estepona and Marbella are known as the Costa del Sol’s ‘Golden Triangle’. This is an area renowned as having one of the most coveted postcodes in Southern Spain, due to concentration of uber luxury mansions and estates.

The Golden Triangle has proved to be extremely resilient throughout the pandemic and continues to be the preferred location for celebrities, royalty, politicians and captains of industry, who are attracted by the stunning modern luxury mansions, rarefied quality of life and the privacy of afforded by private estates like La Zagaleta.

€500m in building revenue

According to DOM3 (Empresarios para la Vivienda de Alta Calidad) an association comprising entrepreneurs and professionals within the industry who have an interest in promoting the sale and construction of luxury homes in Marbella, this area alone is responsible for generating to 500€ million in building revenues within the luxury home market.

Luxury property prices in 2022

BankInter’s latest analysis of the real estate market in Spain, predicts that the market will rise by around 2% across the board, with a much higher increase in the prime locations on the Costa del Sol. Prices in the luxury homes market have seen steady increases over the last 18 months and this is forecast to continue throughout 2022.
