ABOUT

Guadalmina, Marbella

While Marbella’s Golden Mile, Nueva Andalucía and Sierra Blanca are a magnet for buyers looking for luxury property for sale in Marbella, nestled on the western side of the Costa del Sol there is another equally appealing gem – Guadalmina.  Ideally positioned between San Pedro de Alcántara and Estepona, this exclusive enclave offers peace, privacy and understated elegance, yet is only a few minutes away from the energy of Puerto Banús and central Marbella.

The area is divided into two distinct neighbourhoods; Guadalmina Alta, to the north of the coastal road, stretches inland towards the foothills, while Guadalmina Baja extends southwards to the beach. Both sides are characterised by wide, leafy streets, generous plots and an impressive range of large private villas. Residents tend to be affluent buyers who value Marbella’s lifestyle but prefer to enjoy it from afar in quieter surroundings.

Although smaller than Marbella’s other districts, Guadalmina feels spacious thanks to the low-density building. In the region of 3,500 people live here all-year-round, with numbers rising in summer. The community is notably international, with roughly half of its residents coming from abroad, particularly the UK, Scandinavia and Northern Europe.

Property in Guadalmina

Guadalmina is known as an exclusive high-end residential neighbourhood, with properties positioned at the top end of the Marbella property market.  Large villas with extensive gardens and private pools dominate both Guadalmina Alta and Baja. Many of the luxurious homes in Guadalmina Alta enjoy stunning views of the Mediterranean and the mountains, while those in Guadalmina Baja, are just a few steps from the beach. Villas range from classic Andalusian designs dating back to the area’s development in the 1950s to sleek contemporary residences, set within spacious grounds. There is also a handful of low-rise apartment complexes and a small number of townhouses.

Golf in Guadalmina

Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, is one of the Costa del Sol’s oldest and most prestigious golf clubs, with two 18-hole courses, one in each half of the neighbourhood, giving many homes in Guadalmina Alta prime frontline golf views. Founded in 1959, the club now has over 2,000 international members and is known for its lively, welcoming social scene. The clubhouse hosts frequent social events and prestigious tournaments, while the area also has tennis and paddle clubs. Over the years, Guadalmina has hosted major tournaments such as the Spanish Championship and European PGA qualifying events. In 2008 it received the Royal Appointment from King Juan Carlos I, recognising its long-standing legacy in Spanish golf.

Although Guadalmina itself is not a major cultural hub, its strategic location offers residents easy access to San Pedro, Marbella and Estepona. Opportunities for dining out in Guadalmina are surprisingly varied for a small district, especially around the commercial centre where you’ll find everything from traditional Spanish cuisine to Asian and Indian restaurants, alongside other every day amenties, from a vet to a supermarket, boutiques and banks.

Guadalmina is well connected, with Málaga airport around 40 to 45 minutes’ drive away, Marbella is only 20 minutes, Puerto Banús ten-minutes’ drive and Estepona just 20 kilometres to the west. Yet it still remains one of the quietest stretches of beach on this side of the coast. Even in high season, it offers plenty of space and a relaxed atmosphere.

ABOUT US

Award-winning
property development

Andara Villas is a premium real estate development company founded in 1996 by Eric Muller & Paula Tempelaar from the Netherlands. They fell into developing property by chance, having arrived in Spain with four children but couldn’t find a suitable family home. So, they decided to buy a plot and develop their own dream home.

At the time they had no idea that they would sell this property or that it would become the first of many development projects to win an International Property Award for ‘Best Villa in Spain’.

Some 25 years later, Eric and Paula have developed over 20 luxury villas in Marbella, Andara Villas works with a network of first-class architects and lawyers and is regarded as one of the leading luxury real estate firms in southern Spain. Today, they remain committed and passionate property developers and real estate advisors, with a talent for delivering luxury dream homes.
